Ready to transform your organization's tipping process and offer your staff a transparent system? There are a few things you need to set up before you start turning tips into trust:

  1. Add your Admin users and GM users.

  2. Set up your credit card tip fee.

  3. Set up your Pay Period Interval, Pay Period Start Date, and auto-finalize period.

  4. Decide whether you want Peer-to-peer turned on.

💡 These settings are adjustable at any time.

Add Your Org. Admin And GM. Admin Users

Your sales representative will provide you with the login details to access your Tiphaus account for the first time as Org. Admin users have full control over the platform, consider limiting Org. Admin permissions are only for those people who should have access to edit your tip-sharing structure.

To create new users:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Users > + Create.

  2. Assign roles:

    • Org. Admins have full control over the platform. Restrict this role to individuals authorized to modify tip-sharing structures.

    • GM users can manage specific functions as needed.

⚠️ We ask that Org Admins at your locations set up permissions for new Org Admins and GM Users. TipHaus support will never create a new user for you without getting express permission from an existing Org Admin. ⚠️

Set Up Your Credit Card Tip Fee

Credit Card Tip Fees are used to offset credit card processing fees related to tips or service charges by having your employees pay the fees. This is an organizational setting that applies to all locations in your TipHaus organization.

  1. Access the Credit Card Tip Fee settings from your Settings Page Overview.

  2. Adjust the fee percentage to reflect your organizational needs.

You may not be allowed to do this in some states, such as California. For legal advice, we recommend that you contact your state's restaurant association or reference the most recent legislation in your area. The National Restaurant Association provides a list of associations.

⚠️ CC tip fees are withheld when calculating total take-home pay for each employee. ⚠️

Set Up Your Pay Period Interval, Pay Period Start Date, and Auto-Finalize Period.

TipHaus automatically finalizes pay periods a certain number of days after they end. You can configure the auto-finalize delay in the pay period settings. Once a pay period has been finalized, the payroll information is locked, and a snapshot of your breakdown report is created. You can download snapshots from the Reporting Page.

  1. Navigate to the Settings Page > Pay Period tab.

  2. Choose your pay period interval (e.g., weekly, bi-weekly).

  3. Set the start date for your pay period.

  4. Define auto-finalize, selecting a duration (1–5 days), after which pay periods lock automatically.

  5. Access finalized payroll data on the Reporting Page, where you can download snapshots for future reference.

Decide Whether You Want Peer-To-Peer Turned On.

In a world where cash is becoming increasingly less prevalent, TipHaus' peer-to-peer functionality allows employees to electronically share a percentage of their current pay period's tips.

Peer-to-Peer allows your staff to share tips with their colleagues electronically completely for free. These simple, secure transactions represent a portion of their take-home tips from the current pay period. Peer-to-Peer is simple, secure, and displayed on the Breakdown Page.

  • Peer-to-Peer without ETA: For organizations without Earned Tip Access, employees can share the tips they've earned throughout the pay period. After the last day of the pay period, their amount resets and they can only share from the current day's tips.

  • Peer-to-Peer with ETA: For organizations using Earned Tip Access, employees can share up to 50% of tips they earned as tips on the current day. They cannot share the previous day's tips.
