⚠️ Note: Peer-to-Peer is a free feature, but your organization must activate it before your employees can use it. If you do not see this feature in their app, please reach out to support@tiphaus.com for assistance.
Examples of Peer-to-Peer in Action:
To show appreciation: A busser, Alex, went above and beyond for Martha during a shift. Martha sends Alex a few dollars directly through the app as a token of appreciation.
To return a favor: A bartender, Susanna, picks up a shift for Taylor. To show thanks, Taylor sends Susanna $20 with a note: "I'll pick up a shift for you next week — thank you!"
How to Access and Set Up Peer-to-Peer
Your employees must complete a quick, one-time PIN setup before sending their first transaction:
Find the Feature: Open the Employee App and tap the Peer-to-Peer tab at the bottom of the screen (represented by an icon showing two people with a dollar sign between them).

Create a PIN: The first time they access this tab, they will be prompted to create a secure PIN ranging from 4 to 10 digits.
Confirm the PIN: Re-enter the 4–10 digit PIN to confirm. Once saved, their account is ready to send and receive payments.
How to Send Tips to Coworkers
Once setup is complete, your employees can send tips to teammates quickly and straightforwardly:
Navigate to the Peer to Peer tab and tap the blue plus sign (+) located at the bottom center of the screen.
Select a Recipient: Search for a coworker by name. They can see who is currently clocked in versus clocked out and send tips to any teammate regardless of their clock-in status.
Enter the Amount & Note: Select a quick preset amount ($10, $20, or $30) or input a customized amount. They can also attach a short thank-you note for their teammate.
Authorize the Payment: Enter the 4–10 digit PIN created during setup and tap confirm to complete the transfer.
Transaction History & Filtering
Once sent, transfers will instantly appear on their main Peer-to-Peer page:
Negative amounts (-): Represent tips they shared with a coworker.
Positive amounts (+): Represent tips they received from a coworker.
Filters: Toggle history using the options at the top of the screen to view All, Received, or Sent/Shared transactions.
What Happens If Your Employees Input the Wrong Amount?
If your employees accidentally send an incorrect amount, they have two ways to resolve it:
Ask Their Teammate: They can ask their coworker to send the extra amount back to them using the Peer-to-Peer feature.
Request an Admin Refund: Your organization's administrators have the ability to refund Peer-to-Peer transactions if needed. They can reach out to your manager or admin to request a refund.
How to Update or Change a PIN
If your employees forget or need to update their PIN after setup, they can change it directly from their profile settings:
Tap the Profile icon in the upper right corner (the icon shaped like a person).
Select Edit Profile from the menu.
Tap Update PIN Code.
Enter the password they use to log into their TipHaus account.
Enter and confirm their new 4–10 digit PIN to save the changes.

Why My Employee Has Tips, But Can't Share Them Through Peer-To-Peer
Employees can only share a portion of their tips. The amount they can share through Peer-to-Peer is determined by whether your organization has Earned Tip Access® (ETA) enabled.
