Configuring Point Distributions For Tip-Sharing Rule and/or Tip Pools

A tip-sharing rule collects tips from servers/bartenders (could be any tip-earner), and gives them to support staff. If the job codes have the same point value, everyone will make the same amount of tips on a per-minute basis.

A tip pool allows you to split tips within a group of Job Codes (there must be at least one Job Code that is a tip-earner).

If we’re using daily distribution logic and everybody works three hours, they’re all going to make the same amount of money. If they are not supposed to make the same amount, we can change that by configuring distribution points.

  • If you want the Bussers to make 2x the share of your Hosts, you give them a 2-to-1 distribution point within the rule.

  • You can also input decimal numbers for point, by clicking on the space between the "minus" and "plus" signs.

  • Keep in mind, the percentage may change according to the number of employees that are clocked in for each job code.

  • In this example, no matter how many Bussers or hosts are working for this shift, the bussers will make twice as much as the Hosts on a per-minute basis.
