We are excited to share with you that transparency is one of TipHaus's core values and is truly the driving force behind our products, including the TipHaus Mobile Employee App! We believe in keeping things open and honest, which is why our Employee App is designed with complete transparency in mind. We can't wait for you to try it out!

Introduction to the TipHaus Mobile Employee App

The TipHaus Mobile Employee App gives you the power to:

  • Analyze their Key Metrics such as their Tip Percentage, Hours Worked, and Take Home Per Hour.

  • Hone in on which shifts make them the most money.

  • Stay up to date on the Tip Rules that are set up at their organization and understand how those rules affect their Take Home for tips.

  • Send a portion of their Take Home to other employees via the "Peer to Peer" function.

TipHaus's Employee App allows for transparency between employees and management, with powerful features for your tip management.

Let's dive in real quick to share what you can find in the Employee App.

Employee App "My Tips" Page

The My Tips screen of the Employee App allows you to see key metrics such as tips received from sales, pooled or shared tip distributions, CC tip fees, and ultimately, Take-home over specific date ranges.

  • Look at the total take-home of tip earnings (on a specific day, during the current pay period, or over a specific period)

  • Look into the breakdown of tip outs that contributed to your overall take-home, like any pooled or shared tip distributions, where gratuity and credit or gift card tips contributed to the take-home.

  • See how much in CC tip fees were deducted from your take-home.

Look at the total take-home of tip earnings over a specific period of time or location.

Setting a default filter is as easy as clicking the dropdown in the upper right corner under the "Current Pay Period" text, or setting a custom date range by clicking the settings icon (the three horizontal lines) on the upper right corner. If you work at multiple locations within your organization, you can also switch which one you want to see from here.

⚠️ You can set a custom date range over any month. But the view is limited to 31 days at a time.

See How Tips Are Being Distributed Through Tip-Sharing Rules and Tip Pools

You can understand how your tip earnings were determined by taking a look at the breakdown.

  1. Total Tips: This is how much you earned in tips from sales you've closed, broken down by Credit/Gift Card Tips and Gratuities. (Some employers call gratuities service charges)

  2. Net Distribution: This reflects how much you have shared or received through your organization's Tip-Sharing Rules and Tip Pools.

  3. Additional Calculations: Shows any other calculations that affect your total earnings, such as CC Tip Fees, Peer-to-Peer transactions and tips already paid in cash by your employer.

  4. Tip Pool: This is a more granular explanation of how much you deposited in tip pools and how much you withdraw (earn) from them.

  5. Tip Share: This is a more granular explanation of how much you shared and received through Tip-Sharing Rules.

You can see how tips moved based on the organization's rules by clicking on the blue numbers next to "Sent" or "Received" Tip Share.

In the example above, the employee sent $113.65 to dishwashers; if you tip out more than one other position, it will also be displayed here.

Why Do My Numbers Keep Changing Even After I Was Already Paid?

You might notice that your take-home amount and other values can change after the day ends or even after you’ve been paid. Totals in the Employee App may update due to refunds or shift adjustments processed before the end of the pay period.

Calculations typically run the next day, but they can change if we receive updated data, such as edits to tip-sharing rules or pools, sale edits or refunds, time punch corrections, or new Peer-to-Peer transactions. If this happens, please contact your employer for details about what may have affected your take-home. For further help, you can always contact our support team.
