Employee App: Metrics Page

The Employee App Shows the Tip Metrics Most Important to Your Employees

Written by Sebastian.J Jordan

With the TipHaus Employee App, your employees have instant access to all the tip data that matters most to them. Tracking their earnings, reviewing their worked hours, and getting a clear picture of their shift success has never been easier.

This guide addresses three key questions your employees can answer using the Metrics Page:

  • During which shifts did they make the most money?

  • How much money did they make in tips per day?

  • How much money did they make in tips per hour?

Time Worked & Shift Breakdown

The Time Worked feature displays an interactive, 24-hour visual timeline (labeled across 6 AM, 12 PM, 6 PM, and 12 AM) for each day within the selected date range. Your employees' shifts are visually highlighted as colored bars across the timeline, giving them an intuitive look at exactly when they worked.

Interactive Day View

  • By tapping on any individual day within the graph, your employees can open a detailed shift breakdown displaying:

  • Clock-In & Clock-Out Times: Exact punch times recorded for their shift.

  • Roles & Job Codes: Clear distinction between their roles if they worked multiple shifts with different job codes on the same day (e.g., working as a Host in the afternoon and a Server at night).

  • Cash Tips: View their recorded cash tips and input new cash amounts.

  • "View [Day]" Navigation: Tapping the View [Day] button immediately redirects them to the Home Page, pre-filtered to display the full earnings and distribution summary for that exact date.

How to Input Cash Tips

  1. Tap on Cash Tips within the detailed shift breakdown for the selected day.

  2. Select the correct shift or job code: If your employees worked multiple shifts or under different job codes on the same day (for example, Shift A as a Server and Shift B as a Bartender), they will have the option to select exactly which shift to assign their cash tips to. This step is crucial because your organization may have different cash tip-sharing rules depending on the specific job code they were working under.

  3. Enter their cash tip total and submit their input.

How to Edit Cash Tips

If your employees need to make changes to an entry they already submitted:

  1. Tap on the specific shift where they previously entered cash tips.

  2. In the location where Cash Tips originally appeared, they will now see Edit Cash Tips.

  3. Tap Edit Cash Tips, enter the correct total, and confirm their entry.

Note: Any new amount entered will completely override the previous cash tip entry for that shift

Tip Share Sent

The Tip Share Sent section displays an itemized breakdown of tips your employees sent through tip-sharing rules based on the specific job code they worked during that shift.

  • Job Code Breakdown: Shows individual amounts they contributed while clocked in under each specific job code (e.g., Server, Bartender).

  • Totals: Displays the total amount they sent per job code, followed by their overall Total Sent sum for the selected timeframe.

Tip Share Received

The Tip Share Received section highlights tips your employees received via tip-sharing rules, categorized strictly by the job code they were clocked in under at the time of distribution (e.g., if they were clocked in as a Server, those distributions will display under their Server job code).

  • Job Code Breakdown: View all tips they received, grouped by each active role/job code.

  • Totals: Displays their individual totals earned per job code alongside an overall Total Received sum.

Daily Total

The Daily Total view gives your employees a comprehensive look at their daily earnings across any filtered date range.

  • Average Daily Take-Home: Easily track their average daily earnings over the selected period.

  • Filtered Daily Earnings: View their exact take-home total for each individual day worked.

  • Full Breakdown Access: Tapping on any specific day opens a complete, detailed breakdown of their earnings and tip distributions for that date.

⚠️ Note on Take-Home Tip Totals: Please note that tip totals presented in the app serve as an approximation of what they will see on their final paycheck. Their tip figures may adjust prior to the end of the pay period due to refunds, time punch corrections, or shift adjustments.

⚠️ Please be aware that the figures shown in the app are an approximation of what will be seen on their final paycheck. The tip totals presented in the TipHaus mobile app may change due to refunds, clock-in/clock-out adjustments, or rule changes processed before the end of the pay period.
